ReadyAI’s partnership with InteractIdeas makes AI education more accessible for children & young people in Portuguese-speaking countries.

ReadyAI, in partnership with InteractIdeas (Portugal), announced the launch of the Portuguese version of their book series “Artificial Intelligence & Me” (Inteligência Artificial & Me). The book series explores the 5 Big Ideas in AI and illustrates conversations between a friendly robot and a group of children as they learn about Artificial Intelligence.

The partnership makes it possible for people in Portugal and other Portuguese-speaking countries such as Brazil, Angola, Mozambique, Cape Verde, Guinea Bissau, São Tomé, and Príncipe to have the opportunity to introduce Artificial Intelligence to their young people through picture books.

“AI is possibly the most powerful technology that humans have ever developed. It will help us overcome some of the most complex problems we face today, such as climate change and fake news. AI will also support developments and important advances in science. However, while it can help us overcome many challenges, it also poses dangers and concerns. In this sense, the importance of developing AI for all and the good of all must begin with education, children and young people. We, therefore, need to lay the foundation for understanding what AI is and how it should be used to be more humane and supportive. It is with this goal in mind that we have found it necessary that all children and young people with Portuguese as their mother tongue have the opportunity to explore ReadyAI’s educational and interesting books that focus on the exploration of the Big Ideas in AI,” says Paulo Barreira, CEO of InteractIdeas.

The illustrated book introduces young readers to The Five Big Ideas in AI; Perception, Representation and Reasoning, Learning, Human-Interaction, and Societal Impact. The Five Big Ideas were established by the AI4K12 Initiative, a joint project of the Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AAAI) and the Association of Computer Science Teachers as part of their national K-12 education guidelines. AI4K12 was also supported by NSF.

“Today, our children are growing up in an increasingly digital age where technology fills every part of their lives. From smart toys and social media networks to the classroom and home, artificial intelligence is everywhere in children’s daily lives,” says Roozbeh Aliabadi, CEO of ReadyAI.

Mr. Aliabadi adds, “We owe it to our children not only to help them understand and use the powerful tools of AI but also to weigh their moral and social implications carefully from an early age. We published the “AI & ME” book series to help children learn about AI so that they can grow from passive viewers of technological disruptions to active participants in positive change in their local communities and the world.”

The new release is recommended for K-5 and is available on ReadyAI’s Amazon for immediate purchase. For more information on ReadyAI’s other educational books, online courses, and resources for parents and teachers, visit their website.
