The startup led by Rui Bento and Nuno Rodrigues intends to make the leap to Italy. At the same time, it wants to hire 50 new workers, mainly in the operations and technological areas.
After expanding to Spain in 2021, the Portuguese startup Kitch is now preparing to enter the Italian market this year, more specifically in the cities of Milan, Turin and Rome. At the same time, the Portuguese company intends to hire 50 new workers, mainly in the operations and technological areas.
“Starting in March, we will arrive in Italy, in the cities of Milan, Turin and Rome,” Rui Bento, co-founder and CEO of Kitch, revealed to ECO. Other cities may be introduced in the following months. As for new markets, the company prefers not to reveal which countries are in its plans.
The startup led by Rui Bento and Nuno Rodrigues ended 2021 with a team of 53 people working mostly remotely. Despite being based in Lisbon, Kitch is present in several cities between Portugal and Spain, a number that will increase this year with the jump to the Italian market.
Regarding the new recruitment process that will double the current number of workers, Rui Bento pointed out that “the 50 vacancies are transversal to the team and are part of an important process for us to be able to support and work with more and more restaurants, across multiple geographies. There are two areas that will concentrate most of the vacancies: our technology teams, who work every day to make the Kitch platform better and more useful for restaurants; and our operations team, which helps our platform reach more restaurants, and ensures the quality of the services provided to restaurants and their customers.”
With over 800,000 meals delivered in Iberia processed through the Kitch platform, the goal for this year is to help restaurants deliver over five million meals in the two metropolitan areas it operates in Portugal (Lisbon and Porto) and in six metropolitan areas in Spain (Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, Malaga, Palma de Mallorca and Vitoria-Gasteiz).
