The EcoEconomy 4.0 project, launched at the end of April to accelerate decarbonisation and digitalisation in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), has already involved “more than 400” companies, the Portuguese Business Association (AEP) announced.

“The AEP EcoEconomy 4.0 project – which aims to develop and deepen the concepts of SMEs in areas such as decarbonisation/energy transition, circular economy and digital technologies of Industry 4.0 – has already involved more than 400 companies and the impacts of the activities developed are felt in the business fabric, making it more sustainable and competitive,” the association said in a statement sent to Lusa.

Created to support SMEs in areas such as the North, Centre and Alentejo, the EcoEconomy 4.0 is, according to AEP, “mobilizing the driving force of the Portuguese economy to enhance the fulfillment of national and European environmental goals, showing companies the importance of adopting behaviors in a logic of regenerative economy”.

According to the association, by completing this self-diagnosis, “companies can download a report that presents the results and targeted recommendations, obtaining an evaluation by theme and an overall assessment of the company”.

“So far, 19 companies have already participated, but registration is still open at https://ecoeconomytools.aeportugal.pt/questionnairesHome.php”.

“With the aim of presenting a set of international and national initiatives and practices and to analyse the national gap compared to benchmark countries in circular economy, decarbonisation and energy transition and Industry 4.0,” EcoEconomy 4.0 has launched five e-books, which “have been downloaded by over 1,000 companies”.
