The Embassy of Canada to Portugal is partnering with reputed Portuguese law firm JPAB on the organization of a high-level webinar on “Mining in Portugal: Perspectives and Opportunities”. The event is taking place via Zoom on July 6th at 4 pm GMT.
The webinar will cover Portugal’s new legal framework in the mining sector, green mining and lithium opportunities in the country. Attendees will have the chance to learn directly from mining experts at the Portuguese National Authority of Energy and Geology (DGEG), and legal experts from JPAB. In addition, key insights into the opportunities in green mining and lithium will be delivered by the Portuguese Secretary of State of Energy and the Secretary of State for Internationalization.
Canadian mining companies are among the largest investors in the sector in Portugal and have shown significant interest in the country’s lithium deposits. Portugal is already Europe’s biggest lithium producer, but the Portuguese Government stated that the development of lithium is a priority, and a long-awaited lithium licensing auction is being prepared. This webinar will offer a unique opportunity for Canadian mining companies to learn about the implications of the new mining law and the auction process and licensing process in Portugal. Additionally, attendees will have the opportunity to address questions to the mining experts during a Q&A element.Further information and registrations here
